Ogunlana said, in statements to the Emirates News Agency, WAM, on the sidelines of the activities of the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference, ADIPEC 2023, that the UAE has the innovation and advanced technology necessary for an action plan to confront climate change and reduce carbon emissions, in conjunction with its hosting of the Climate Change Conference of the Parties. Ogunlana added, "The UAE is always ahead of time with its achievements and success, so we are confident of the country's efforts in various fields, especially with regard to the climate change file."
She stated that the ADIPEC exhibition and conference is considered the largest forum for the energy sector in the world, with the participation of sector leaders, policy makers and innovators from around the world, as it highlights the latest technological innovations, partnerships and digital transformation efforts related to energy.
Ogunlana explained that she participated in the keynote session discussions at the ADIPEC conference among energy leaders and influential advocates in the industry to stimulate an open dialogue on diversity, equity and inclusion, and their essential role in creating a more balanced and inclusive future.
She emphasized the depth of relations between the UAE and various African countries in various fields and sectors.
Her Royal Highness Dr. Muradion Ogunlana said that the Africa 259 project is a program that aims to support the implementation of the main projects of the 2063 Agenda, the strategic framework for the social and economic transformation of the African continent over the next 50 years, noting that this program began in 2021 during the “ADIPEC” conference. In Abu Dhabi, in response to the results of the COP26 conference in Glasgow.
She added that the program aims to establish the basic infrastructure to enable African countries to compete on an equal footing in the global arena, and the program focuses on key areas, including sustainable development, hunger eradication, equality and empowerment of women, development, infrastructure, and innovation.
Ogunlana stated that by focusing on these sustainable goals, African countries can enhance trade and investment, peace and security, and compatibility with the five regional economic communities in Africa, and the program also works to use technology and modern solutions to address the challenges and opportunities facing the continent.
She pointed out that the program seeks to work in partnership with various parties in the UAE, the African Union, regional economic communities, and the United States government through the World Bank, the private sector, civil society, academics, and non-governmental organizations.
