ArabiaWeather.com - The number of people employed in wind energy increased by 5% in 2015, creating 1.1 million jobs globally, according to the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC).
The Secretary General of the World Council, Steve Sawyer, revealed in a statement issued by him on the occasion of World Wind Day, which fell on Wednesday, that the number of jobs increased by 5% in the wind energy sector globally, while investment in wind energy achieved profits of $ 110 billion.
He added that the high rate of employment in this sector is directly proportional to the high rates of installation of wind turbines that generate electricity, in several major countries, including China, the United States of America and Germany.
He explained that the wind sector is capable of creating more job opportunities. Due to the low costs of renewable energy technology, and the application of comprehensive policies and strategies, according to the Anadolu Agency.
Sawyer pointed to the importance of the wind energy sector in combating global unemployment and strengthening the local economies of countries around the world, in addition to its importance in achieving the goals agreed upon at the Paris climate conference.
It is noteworthy that the countries of the world celebrate on June 15 of each year, the World Wind Day, with the aim of identifying the ability of wind to change the world, and contributing to its sustainability, as there are 75 countries in the world that invest in wind energy.
