Weather of Arabia - Director of the Epidemiology Department, Ayman Al-Muqaba, announced that the Ministry intends to introduce a new chickenpox vaccine, in addition to the pneumococcal vaccine, by the end of 2024.

The interview on Wednesday explained that the chickenpox vaccine provides 87% protection after the first dose, while the second dose is given to the child when he enters school. He pointed out that a child who contracts the disease after receiving only the first dose suffers from less severe symptoms compared to someone who did not receive the vaccine.

Regarding the pneumococcal vaccine, the interviewee stated that it protects against bacterial infections that cause meningitis.

He pointed out that the Ministry provides the vaccines included in the National Vaccination Program, which protect against 12 diseases, free of charge to all residents of Jordan.
