Arab Weather - The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation in the UAE announced the end of the ban on working under the sun and in open places on Sunday, September 15, after it was implemented since June 15 from 12:30 pm to 3:00 pm. This ban comes within the framework of the ministry's efforts to provide a safe work environment that meets the best standards of occupational health and safety, to protect workers from the risks of working in high temperatures during the summer.

Noon work ban success

The ministry confirmed the success of the implementation of the “noon work ban”, as companies complied by 99.9%, and 6,000 breaks were provided for delivery workers across the country. Mohsen Al-Nassi, Assistant Undersecretary for Inspection Affairs, stated that companies’ commitment to government decisions reflects the partnership strategies between the ministry and the private sector, which contributed to raising awareness of the importance of these decisions and their positive impact on the work environment and worker productivity.

Al-Nasi pointed out that the ministry conducted about 134,000 inspection visits during the ban period, during which it detected only 51 violations, which reflects the level of awareness and responsibility among companies towards their workers. He added that the "noon work ban" has become an essential part of the labor market after twenty years of its implementation.

He commended the Ministry’s partners who contributed to community initiatives, such as distributing food and cold drinks to workers during the curfew period. The period also witnessed the implementation of many initiatives to raise awareness of the importance of the curfew and provide support to workers through the Ministry’s electronic platforms and smart application.

The ban requirements required companies to provide shaded areas and suitable cooling tools, in addition to sufficient quantities of water, moisturizing materials and first aid to ensure the safety of workers while performing their duties.
