Arab Weather - Today, Sunday (May 29), the UAE Ministry of Health and Community Protection announced the registration of 3 new cases of "monkeypox", and recommended the need to follow safety and health prevention measures in gatherings and when traveling.

The Ministry confirmed that monkeypox is a contagious viral disease, but its spread is much lower than the rate of Covid-19, and the disease is transmitted through contact with body fluids, respiratory droplets, and contact with skin lesions of an infected person, according to what was published by the “WAM” agency.

The UAE is the first Gulf Arab country to report a case of "monkeypox", last Tuesday, of a woman coming from Africa, and more than 20 countries where monkeypox is not endemic have previously reported the outbreak of the viral disease.

All health authorities in the country are committed to a unified national medical guide for dealing with people infected with monkeypox and their contacts, which includes complete isolation of those infected in hospitals until their recovery, with close contacts isolated for a period of no less than 21 days at home, monitoring their health condition, and imposing their commitment to home isolation.

Symptoms of "monkeypox" are severe headache, fever, back and muscle pain, in addition to inflammation and swelling of the lymph nodes and the appearance of a rash on the face and extremities.
