ArabiaWeather.com - Khitam Amer - A research team from the Swedish University of Linköping recently invented a new type of energy storage known as the "ultra-capacity capacitor" , which converts and stores heat from sunlight into electricity at a rate of up to (2500) times the generated solar energy of electricity compared to the current ultra capacitors which are connected to thermoelectric generators. Where heat from the sun can be stored in solar thermal collectors or electricity can be generated in solar cells.

The research project leader, Professor Xavier Crispin, explains that the new condenser can generate electricity from various thermal sources, such as the sun or waste, as long as there is a temperature gradient between the two ends of the condenser.

And Crispin indicated that the amount of heat generated depends mainly on the quality of the electrolyte used on the one hand and the large temperature differences on the other hand, stressing that the electrolyte they invented does not contain any expensive or dangerous materials, and it is stable and can be dealt with at room temperature.

The team of researchers was able to produce an electrical solution (electrolyte) with a capacity 100 times higher to convert heat into electricity than the one that is usually used today, after conducting several experiments in this field. The researchers have obtained two patents so far for what they have invented.
