Arab Weather - Specialists at the Arab Weather Regional Center said that the latest weather maps indicate the activity and overlap of the Red Sea depression, which, God willing, will result in a state of atmospheric instability that will include several Arab countries in the coming days. The activity of the Red Sea depression is unusual for this time of year, especially since the region is entering the peak of the winter months, which are characterized by the coldest temperatures and the highest amounts of rainfall.
The Red Sea Depression is known as a thermal depression that depends on the thermal differences in its formation, deepening, decay or shrinkage, which arise between the surface temperature of the waters in the Red Sea basin and the temperature of the land in the Arabian Peninsula and Sudan. Surface pressure values decrease in normal conditions with increasing temperatures, which explains why the Red Sea Depression shrinks, weakens and retreats southward (towards the southern Red Sea and eastern Sudan) in the summer, and deepens and extends northward in the fall, winter and spring.
Frontal depressions are those that form when warm, moist air meets cold air, creating air fronts that cause changes in the weather in terms of rain and wind. These depressions are usually accompanied by strong effects such as thunderstorms and heavy rain.
The Red Sea Depression is a special type of depression that forms as a result of the interaction of cold and hot air masses over the Red Sea region. This depression is characterized by the presence of a warm and humid air mass, and leads to the formation of humid air currents that push more moisture to the surrounding areas.
The extension of the Red Sea Low coincides with the rush of a cold upper basin from the west towards northern Egypt and moves east towards the Arabian Peninsula. The warm air currents resulting from the extension of the Red Sea Low in the lower layers of the atmosphere meet the cold air currents in the upper layers of the atmosphere, coinciding with the rise in humidity levels in the atmosphere, which results in a state of atmospheric instability.
