Arab Weather - The latest satellite images captured this afternoon, Monday 20-12-2021, indicate the concentration of the air depression "classified as a third-degree air depression according to the Arab Weather Index to measure the intensity of depressions" east of Cyprus, and is attached to a more effective air front called "closed front". It is about to cross the Kingdom's airspace over the next few hours.
The crossing of this front is preceded by a significant intensification of the surface wind speed, so that it is not excluded that the speed of some wind gusts may reach 100 km/h. Sandstorms form from time to time in the desert areas of the south and east of the Kingdom, which leads to a significant decrease in the horizontal visibility.
With the crossing of this air front, it is expected that the rains will start in the northern regions and then extend to the central regions of the Kingdom, being heavy at times and accompanied by the occurrence of thunder and hail, which may be heavy at times, especially over the mountains. There is also a further decrease in the temperature.
It is not excluded that showers of snow will fall over the high mountain heights that are more than 1,100 meters above sea level, and sometimes accumulate over areas that are more than 1,300 meters above sea level.
