Arab Weather - Muslims across the Kingdom performed the Istisqa prayer today, responding to the call of the Sunnah of the Noble Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, when the rain is delayed, beseeching God Almighty to ask for rain and seeking His mercy and grace.
Istisqa prayer in Saudi Arabia's provinces
- Makkah: In the Grand Mosque, Prince Saud bin Mishaal bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of Makkah Region, led the worshippers. They were led by Sheikh Dr. Maher bin Hamad Al-Muaiqly, who recommended fearing God and sincere repentance. Prayers were also held in all governorates, centers and villages of the region.
- Madinah: In the Prophet’s Mosque, Sheikh Dr. Khalid Al-Muhanna led the prayer, in the presence of Prince Salman bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, the region’s governor. The sermon included a call to fear God, and an emphasis that mercy and provision come from God alone.
- Riyadh: Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz and his acting emir, Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman, joined the worshippers at Imam Turki bin Abdullah Mosque. Sheikh Abdullah Al Sheikh led the prayer, stressing the importance of repentance and seeking forgiveness.
- Najran Region: Prince Turki bin Hazlul bin Abdulaziz prayed with the worshippers in the city of Najran, where they were led by Sheikh Mishaal Al-Otaibi, who explained the virtue of seeking forgiveness as a reason for rain, citing the verse: {So I said, “Seek forgiveness of your Lord. Indeed, He is ever Forgiving. He will send [rain from] the sky upon you in [continuing] showers.”}
- Al-Qassim: In Prince Abdul-Ilah Mosque in Buraidah, Sheikh Jaber Al-Nasser led the prayer, stressing the importance of giving alms and turning to God. The prayer was attended by Prince Dr. Faisal bin Mishaal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz.
- Jeddah Governorate: Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Jalawi, Governor of Jeddah, led the prayers at King Fahd Mosque. Sheikh Abdulaziz Al-Zahrani led them in prayer, warning against persisting in sins, and calling for repentance and persistence in supplication.
- Eastern Region: Prince Saud bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Emir of the region, prayed at King Fahd Mosque in Al-Khobar Governorate, and Sheikh Omar Al-Duwaish led the prayer. The Emirate’s Deputy and a number of officials also participated.
- Jazan Region: In the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Mosque in Jazan city, Sheikh Hassan Al-Hakami led the prayer in the presence of Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Emir of the region, warning against injustice and consuming people’s money unjustly.
- Al-Jawf: Prince Faisal bin Nawwaf bin Abdulaziz performed the prayer at the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Mosque in Sakaka, and Sheikh Tariq Al-Salama led them, calling for forgiveness and giving in charity.
- Al-Ahsa Governorate: In the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Mosque in the city of Hofuf, Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Al-Samaeel led the prayer in the presence of Prince Saud bin Talal bin Badr, Governor of Al-Ahsa, reminding us of the blessing of water and the importance of repentance.
- Al Baha: In King Fahd Mosque in Al Baha city, Sheikh Khaled Al-Ghamdi led the prayers, warning against falling into forbidden things and emphasizing the importance of sincere repentance.
- Tabuk: In the Parents’ Mosque, Dr. Muhammad Al-Shaikhi led the prayers, calling on people to observe God in secret and in public, and to turn to Him in supplication and prayer.
- Taif: Prince Saud bin Nahar bin Saud bin Abdulaziz joined the worshippers at King Fahd Mosque in Aziziyah, led by Sheikh Mohammed Hussein, who spoke about the virtue of the Istisqa prayer and the importance of being close to God.
The sermons of the Istisqa prayer included calls for repentance, seeking forgiveness, and reviving the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, directed to the masses of Muslims to return to God and supplicate to Him in times of drought and delayed rain.
