Weather of Arabia - Video clips circulating documented strange scenes three days ago that terrified people in the Doan area in Hadramaut Governorate, eastern Yemen, prompting some citizens to flee.
According to video users, these scenes are attributed to rock collapses as a result of the heavy flow of torrential waters in Doan, especially in the right valley, due to the almost daily monsoon rains that cause repeated collapses.
In "Hisn Basim" in Wadi Da'an, west of Hadramaut, these collapses forced people whose homes overlooked the mountainside to flee.
The rockslides caused great concern among the people, who now fear new collapses that threaten their safety and property.
In this context, the head of the Geological Survey and Mineral Resources Authority, Engineer Ahmed Yamani Al-Tamimi, this morning made a telephone call to the director of the authority’s branch in Hadhramaut, and asked him to expedite the risk assessment and develop the necessary solutions and treatments.
The Director of the Authority’s branch, Engineer Fayez Basra, confirmed that a team from the Geological Survey Authority is on its way to the site of the rockslides to assess the situation and determine the necessary measures to ensure the safety of the people.
