Weather of Arabia - The volcano of the Italian island of Stromboli erupted on Sunday, unleashing a flow of lava that made its way to the sea off the southern Italian coast near Sicily.
The partial collapse of the crater and the eruption of lava triggered a three-minute seismic wave. A video from Italy's National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology showed huge plumes of smoke spiking as lava flowed down the side of the volcano.

Durante la notte si è verificato un uteriore piccolo crollo dell'area craterica dello #Stromboli . Ciò ha causato la formazione di ulteriori flussi piroclastici che sono finiti in mare. The institute said that the first major eruption was recorded on September 29, before "the observed increase in volcanic activity peaked with the dense flow of lava from the northern crater, which branched into multiple flows that extended to the coast."
The Italian Civil Protection Department raised the alert status from yellow to orange and said that "a state of imbalance in the volcano remains." High preparedness increases monitoring.
Stromboli is one of the most active volcanoes on the planet and has erupted almost continuously over the past 90 years.
In 2019, a tourist died in a powerful eruption that covered the island with ash, but no injuries or damage were reported in this latest eruption.
