WATCH | Glider pilot spots dog on top of Great Pyramid in Egypt

Arab Weather - A video clip has spread on the social media platform X showing a glider pilot flying over the Great Pyramid of Giza, and during the flight, a dog was spotted at the top of the pyramid. The video, which was shared by ABC News on October 16, shows the pilot flying a powered glider over the famous archaeological landmark. Although the timing of the video recording is unclear, the scene surprised followers as a dog appears standing in the background of the scene at the top of the historical monument.

The Great Pyramid: An Amazing Historical Landmark

The Great Pyramid of Giza is the largest of Egypt's pyramids, standing over 480 feet tall. Built as a tomb for the pharaoh Khufu, who ruled during the Fourth Dynasty of the Old Kingdom, it is the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

Grand Egyptian Museum: A Step Towards Full Opening

In a related context, the Grand Egyptian Museum, located near the Giza Pyramids, is scheduled to open 12 new halls dedicated to displaying exhibits about ancient Egypt starting October 17, as part of a trial operation. According to the Associated Press, these halls will receive 4,000 visitors per day before the museum’s official opening, the date of which has not yet been set.

The Grand Egyptian Museum is a massive $1 billion project that will be the world’s largest archaeological museum, housing more than 100,000 artifacts from ancient Egypt’s treasures. The project has been under construction for more than a decade, and its opening has been delayed several times for a variety of reasons, including the COVID-19 pandemic. The trial run is intended to identify any operational issues before the full opening.

Tayeb Abbas, Assistant Minister of Antiquities of Egypt, explained that the new exhibits deal with topics related to society and religion in ancient Egypt, and the artifacts are displayed according to dynasties and historical order.
