Arab Weather - In ancient times, the ancient Arabs relied on observing the movement of the stars to determine the changes in the seasons and know the times of cold and heat, in addition to determining the planting and harvesting seasons. They divided the "winter fifty" into four periods known as "Saud", which are: Saad Al-Dhabih, Saad Abla, Saad Al-Suud, and Saad Al-Khabaya. Each period lasts about 12.5 days, and this division reflects the deep understanding that the ancient Arabs possessed of weather phenomena and seasonal changes, and highlights their ability to predict weather changes based on their careful observation of the stars and their movement.
The Pentecost, or "the quintuplet," is the second and final stage of winter. It begins immediately after the end of the forty-day or square period, and lasts for 50 days, which is why it is called this name. The winter pentecost begins on February 1 and continues until the end of winter on March 21, which coincides with the vernal equinox. This period is characterized by its diverse weather effects, and marks the end of the cold period of winter, as weather fluctuations begin to move toward moderation as spring approaches.
