Why was the month of Shaban given this name?

Why was the month of Shaban given this name?

There are several reasons for calling the month of Shaban by this name. Some narratives indicate that it was given this name because it is the month that separates the month of Rajab from the month of Ramadan. There are other narratives that say that it was given this name because the Arab tribes dispersed there to go to the kings to visit them and seek gifts from them.

One of the reasons that led to the month of Shaban being given this name is that the tribes used to disperse in search of water and pasture, and also because the Arabs used to disperse in it to carry out invasions and raids, after they refrained from fighting in the month of Rajab. Because it is one of the most sacred months. It is also believed that the month was named Shaban because the branches branched at this time.

In his book “Fath al-Bari,” Imam Ibn Hajar mentioned: “Shaban was named because of their frequent search for water or raids after the sacred month of Rajab.”
