As a result of the polar winds crossing the waters of the northeastern oceans and the interaction between the cold air and the warm and humid weather systems in the ocean, deep air depressions are formed, developing into strong storms with low air pressure values.

The storms, especially in the western and eastern United States, are accompanied by large cold air fronts that lead to strong winds and very high waves, with heavy rain and heavy snowfall in many areas, including northern California, Oregon and Washington. Temperatures are expected to drop below zero in several areas, where the weather is very cold.
