Arab Weather - The latest satellite images and global monitoring centers indicate that the tropical condition is centered in the middle of the Arabian Sea, and is classified as a tropical depression, with wind speeds around the center of the depression ranging around 25 knots (46 km/h), with expectations that the tropical system will continue to move westward towards the coasts of southern Arabia, but without developing into a tropical cyclone or even a tropical storm, although the water surface temperature of 28 degrees Celsius is very suitable for the development of the tropical system.
Scientifically, weather experts at the Arab Weather Center noted that although the surface temperature of the water is high, which is one of the reasons for the development of tropical systems, experts noted the presence of 3 obstacles that prevent the development of the tropical condition in the Arabian Sea, and they can be summarized in the following points:
Upper Shear: The computer outputs show that there is strong upper shear over the Arabian Sea and surrounding areas. In the case of tropical systems such as cyclones or tropical depressions, strong wind shear weakens the weather system or even prevents it from developing (just as it does in the Arabian Sea). This effect occurs because wind shear separates and disperses the structure of the weather system, causing the upper and lower layers of the system to be sheared and separated from each other, which weakens the integration of clouds and convection necessary for the development of a cyclone or depression. In the Arabian Sea, when there is strong wind shear, it hinders the process of feeding the tropical system with the moisture and energy it needs to deepen. Wind shear is a change in the speed or direction of winds with height in the atmosphere.
The presence of an upper high: At the upper level of the atmosphere, the absence of other weather systems is a necessary condition for tropical systems to develop. However, in the case of the Arabian Sea, there is a strong high in the upper atmosphere, which is a layer of compressed air in the upper levels of the atmosphere. Meteorologists said that the presence of this high prevents the tropical system from deepening horizontally in the upper atmosphere because it imposes downward pressure and enhances sinking currents, which hinders the rise of warm and humid air from the surface upwards, which is necessary for the system to strengthen and develop.
Continental winds entering the center of the tropical system: It was also observed that there is an interference of continental winds coming from India and surrounding countries towards the center of the tropical depression. The dry continental winds entering the system are an additional factor that contributes to hindering its development, as these winds dry the low, middle and upper layers of the atmosphere, which reduces the chances of cloud formation and the aggravation of the system.
