During this season, dates ripen in the Arabian Peninsula, and from here came its name, as a result of the intense heat during this period, which farmers call “Tabbakh Al-Lun” or “Tabakh Al-Rutab.”

The timing of the Tabakh date season varies from one region to another. It begins early in the south, while it is delayed in the northern regions. This season is characterized by an abundance of clouds coming from the east under the influence of the Indian monsoon depression, called “stick clouds” (the color of dates), and temperatures also rise to their highest levels during this period.
